Interviewed by J.R. Briggs

I had the privilige of being interviewed by J.R. Briggs (author, blogger, and pastor) on the subject of race. He is a good dude and it has been a pleasure connecting with him recently. He asked me lively and curious questions that delve into theological, ecclesiological, and sociological arenas.  I invite my readers to jumpContinue reading “Interviewed by J.R. Briggs”

Holy Week…

If anyone knows me, they know that I believe that this time ought not only be about remembering Jesus on the cross, but the cross of Jesus ought to be shaping how we live our lives too.  Our lives now ought be continually marked by love, sacrifice, submission, and service to God and others!

Can we ever disagree without hateful and dehumanizing language???

I don’t think that civil conversation is possible in the American arena and context.  So much hatred, bigotry, and ignorance has overwhelmed all chances of truly human interaction.  There are some deep ideological differences in our country, and they will never be bridged with the atmosphere of racism and apathy that currently exist. Here is a part of his dialogue… “I’m begging you, your right to religion and freedom to exercise religion andContinue reading “According to Glenn Beck, I’m a Nazi!”

War, Violence, and Christian Faith

A great internal debate throughout christian history has been on the subject matter of war and violence.  Is there such thing as a “Just War”, and should Christians participate in war or any acts of violence? Let’s begin the dialogue, freestyle with me and briefly tell me what you think… (biblically that is).

A Run through the Black Experience in America

Check this video out (and yes this seems to have been made right when Obama becomes President, which is why he is such a huge part at the end.) What do you think? (This post is not meant to be political about Pres. Obama, but the black american experience in totality)

Luke 6:46 is calling you out!

I am convinced that the American church has lost its way. We are so enslaved by materialism and entrenched with a consumeristic mindset, that we fail to see how much we have watered down the faith. American Evangelicals think they have it all figured out, but it is my conclusion that we (evangelicals) have theContinue reading “Luke 6:46 is calling you out!”
