Du Bois Award in Harrisburg, PA, and most recently in December 2023 Life Esteem Ministries recognized him in Harrisburg with the Harambee Award for the Nguzo Saba Principle of Umoja—Unity for his faith-based activism and public scholarship in the community.   1. Very well said. I agreed with 90% of what he said – I just need one thing explained to me – it was a term he used in his speech to Obama “You need progressives behind you like Lincoln had abolitionists”
    By “Progressives”
    Did he mean those who believe that Big Government is the answer? (that is what the progressive movement has always been about) The Progressive movement has been around forever and it’s antithesis is free-market capitalism. The two can not coexist peacefully. You already see what happens when stimulus moneys are spend to prop up government worker unions. (which is what most of the original stimulus money has gone for and what any further stimulus money (bills) will also be used for) The economy will remain depressed as long as money is taken from those who earn it in the free market and simply given to those in government jobs. How can Dr. West mean that? Progressives will never help the little guy get a job – unless it’s a government job – but that will simply haysin the end of this nation as we know it which Dr. West also seemed to realize is already happening. So, what does he mean?
